Tour Itinerary
Day 1

Travel to Dover for the late morning ferry crossing to Calais. Continue to Valkenburg and arrive before dinner.

Day 2

Valkenburg Underground Christmas Markets
Today is free to visit the centre of Valkenburg where the Christmas markets are considered the largest and oldest underground markets in Europe. Held in a maze of well-preserved caves which have honeycombed the ground beneath the town for some 2,000 years, you'll be surprised by the lovely settings and decors which are in full harmony with the numerous stands offering Christmas gifts and other luxuries (entrance fee not included: approx. 5 euros per adult).

Day 3

Aachen Christmas Market
Visit the Christmas Market in Aachen where you will have time to explore the delightful and colourful stalls in this historic city. Aachen's brightly lit Christmas market is set around the cathedral and town hall, and the lovingly decorated 'Christmas Village' on the market square has everything your heart could desire. One local speciality you really must try is the Aachen Printen, a kind of gingerbread.

Day 4

Cologne Christmas Markets
With seven Christmas markets to explore, the magic of Christmas will certainly be felt throughout this festively decorated city. A huge temporary ice rink and a variety of Christmas concerts and nativity scenes will entertain us as the irresistible aroma of baked apples, cinnamon biscuits and mulled wine entices us through the alleyways! The markets range from the large, impressive Cologne Cathedral market arranged around a huge Christmas tree with its imposing backdrop of the cathedral, to the fairy-tale Brothers Grimm style market with its impressive festive illuminations.

Day 5

We say farewell to our hotel this morning and return to Calais for our ferry back to the UK.

Please be advised that the Christmas Market dates have not yet been confirmed and may be subject to change.
