Detailed Overview

On Friday, May 8, 2020 - exactly 75 years to the day – the Royal Albert Hall will host a special concert of commemoration and celebration to mark ‘Victory In Europe’ Day, one of history’s most significant dates. The Second World War represented the greatest conflict the world had ever seen and VE Day 75 will honour those who made the ultimate sacrifice in order to liberate Europe from Nazi Germany, while at the same time celebrating the victory for Britain and its allies.

Featuring the Royal Philharmonic Concert Orchestra, plus very special guests, VE Day 75 will be a concert of epic, stirring and emotional music from some of the greatest British composers - from Elgar’s Nimrod to Walton’s Spitfire Prelude & Fugue; from Holst’s Planet Suite to Ron Goodwin’s Battle Of Britain Theme.

Join us for an inspiring and patriotic evening featuring the best of British as we commemorate VE Day 75.

We are all very aware that this could be the last major Second World War anniversary which includes those who lived through the conflict. Let us celebrate this historic event, commemorating and respecting the memory of those who served in that conflict and particularly remembering those who gave their lives in order to give us the many freedoms we enjoy today.

By raising money for SSAFA you will be supporting those currently serving, regular and Reservist, in the Royal Navy, Royal Marines, British Army and Royal Air Force, veterans and military families as well veterans from the Merchant Navy. www.ssafa.org.uk
