Return journey on the Severn Valley Railway
Entrance to Ironbridge Gorge Museum Trust
We travel to the hotel where a welcome drink will be waiting for us.
We spend today at Shugborough Hall, a rare surviving complete estate, with all major buildings intact including mansion house, servants’ quarters, working farm and walled garden. We explore the Georgian mansion, experiencing life below stairs as well as the world of glamour and royalty in the apartments of Patrick Lichfield, 5th Earl and fashion photographer, before discovering the parkland and Park Farm.
Ludlow & Severn Valley Railway
We travel to the Shropshire Hills, we take a scenic drive and then have some free time in Ludlow, with Ludlow castle, St Laurence church and Ludlow museum to visit plus shops and other attractions to visit. In the afternoon we enjoy a return journey from Bridgenorth to Bewdley on the vintage steam-hauled Severn Valley Railway. Sit back and admire the scenery of the Worcestershire and Shropshire countryside as the railway hugs the Severn Valley on its way to the town of Bewdley with its pretty gardens and lovely Georgian architecture.
Ironbridge Gorge Museums
Today, we take a short trip to Telford and visit the Ironbridge Gorge Museums, featuring Blists Hill Victorian Town, a living museum that vividly re-enacts life in Ironbridge from the early 1700s to the Victorian era. We also visit the Coalport China Museum, Jackfield Tile Museum, Coalbrookdale Museum of Iron, Roseley Pipeworks and the Darby Houses, the former Georgian home of Coalbrookdale’s Quaker ironmasters. We complete our day by viewing the Iron Bridge itself.
We travel back to the local area for your return home.
