Day 2

Salford Quays Cruise & Quarry Bank Mill
Today, we venture to Salford Quays, a hot spot of Manchester and home to the BBC & Granada Studios, as well as the Imperial War Museum. It is from here that we depart on an hour-long sightseeing river cruise where we learn about the historic Manchester Ship Canal. In the afternoon we make our way to Quarry Bank Mill. Founded in 1783, this is one of the finest preserved textile factories of the Industrial Revolution. As a Grade II listed building, it is now "one of Britain's greatest industrial heritage sites".

Day 3

Cheshire - Lyme Park
This morning we have free time at leisure in the pretty walled city of Chester. In the afternoon, we visit Lyme House & Park, the film location for 'Pemberley' in the BBC adaption of Pride and Prejudice, which has made it one of the most famous country houses in England. Nestling within sweeping moorland, Lyme Park is a magnificent estate not to be missed.

Day 4

Derbyshire - Chatsworth House & Bakewell
The fabulous Chatsworth House, in the heart of the Peak District, is our destination today. We have time to explore both the magnificent house, and its vast gardens and parkland. En route back to our hotel, we visit the market town of Bakewell, famous for its traditional Bakewell Pudding.

Day 5

After breakfast, we make our way home.
