Waterford Crystal Factory & The Waterford & Suir Valley Railway Company
Visit the new House of Waterford Crystal, now located in the centre of one of Irelands oldest cities. We explore the factory, walking through the Mould Room and the Blowing and Cutting Departments along the way. In the afternoon we experience the beauty of the Suir Valley aboard the Waterford & Suir Valley Railway. From a period carriage, take in the wonderful panoramic views of the River Suir, and views of the world-famous Mount Congreve Gardens, an area rich in history which is only.
accessible by train.
Kilkenny & Smithwicks Brewery
We spend the day in Kilkenny, characterised by beautifully restored buildings and winding slipways, it is small and compact enough to explore on foot, yet full of fascinating historical buildings and contemporary shops, design galleries and restaurants. You may choose to visit the restored St Canice's Cathedral or of course Kilkenny Castle, one of the most magnificent castles in Ireland, built by the Normans during the 12th century. We meet up in the afternoon at Smithwick's Brewery Experience, home to the number one Irish Ale, brewed since 1710. We enjoy a guided tour explaining the history of the company and process of brewing followed by a sample of the product in the brewery's own bar.
Wicklow Mountain scenic drive
This morning we make our way to enjoy a spectacular Wicklow Mountain scenic drive, we visit the monostatic settlement in the valley of Glendalough and the pretty village of Avoca, the setting for the popular TV series "Ballykissangel" and home to Avoca Handweavers, the oldest working mill in Ireland where we will spend some time and maybe enjoy a bit of shopping! We return to the hotel in the afternoon for lunch and time at leisure in Waterford before our farewell dinner.
We begin our journey home.
