The Garlic Farm - A Family Business that has Grown from the Love of Garlic
The Garlic Farm have been growing garlic on the Isle of Wight ever since Granny Norah planted those first few cloves in her garden over 60 years ago. They have spent the many years since exploring its history and origins, experimenting with the many different varieties on "the Island" and creating a range of garlic infused products from garlic mayonnaise to garlicky chutneys and from black garlic beer to garlic ice cream.
Isle of Wight Donkey Sanctuary & Shanklin
This morning we visit the Isle of Wight Donley Sanctuary. The Donkey Sanctuary has 97 donkeys and 26 ponies, all of whom are either rescued or abandoned. They are given a 'forever home' in 55 acres of countryside in the Wroxall valley where they get first class care and welfare. Over 50 volunteers support the staff at the Sanctuary to ensure that the donkeys 'want for nothing'. There is a gift shop, café and a bric a brac shop. In the afternoon we spend time in Shanklin. From the long wide sandy beach to the wooded ravine which is Shanklin Chine and the Old Village with its independent shops, restaurants and pubs, you won't be short of something to do.
Isle of Wight Deer Farm & Scenic Drive
Today we visit The Isle of Wight Deer Farm. The Deer Farm spans an impressive 334 Acres of beautiful countryside in the heart of the Isle of Wight. Enjoy a planned route walking tour with the Farm Director learning extensively about deer without losing any detail, while being able to ask all the questions you like - and experience close ups to the animals. You won't be able to feed them, but you will see them up-close when they are being fed. In the afternoon enjoy a scenic drive of the Island.
Today we say goodbye and return by ferry home.
