The gardens have been the inspiration for poets since 1477 and the story of the house and gardens span many centuries. Recently restored to their former glory visitors can view the Cloister Garden, Pool Garden, Stream Garden, Pigeon House Wood, Lower and Upper Gardens, Church View, Bishop Rudd's Walk and an 18th century Yew Tunnel.
The Royal Mint
See the heads, hear the tales! Today we travel to the town of Llantrisant, the headquarters for The Royal Mint where 1,000 years of history have been put into combining the finest craftsmanship with cutting-edge techniques to make coins and medals for over 60 countries. Go behind the scenes to follow the journey of a coin, from a blank to a bank. Enjoy a guided factory experience and a self-guided interactive exhibition. In the afternoon we head to Cardiff, one of the top ten shopping destinations in Britain. As well as the high street shops, in the Castle Quarter of the city there are six Victorian arcades. These are historic structures full of vintage clothes stores, craft shops and coffee shops, offering an intimate environment for shoppers who enjoy an alternative to the well-trodden path of the high street.
We depart after breakfast and make our way back home.
