Tour Itinerary
Day 1

We arrive at our hotel in time for dinner.

Day 2

Manchester Ship Canal Cruise
Today we embark on a cruise along the fascinating 35 miles of the Manchester Ship Canal. We enjoy lively commentary on our six-hour cruise which tells the story of how this magnificent waterway shaped the city of Manchester and the North West. Travelling through locks and bridges that have remained largely unchanged since their construction over 100 years ago, we gain a revealing insight into the facts, history and dramas of one of Britain's major waterways.

Day 3

Embsay & Bolton Abbey Railway & Bolton Prior Walk
The Embsay & Bolton Abbey Steam Railway is a volunteer-run, preserved Heritage Railway which does not receive any grants or subsidies towards running. We have some free time to explore the station before we board the train and journey through the 4 miles of countryside to Bolton Abbey. After this journey, you have the option to take a gentle one and a half mile walk to Bolton Abbey Station. Or if you'd prefer, sit and watch the world go by at the station enjoying a tea or coffee.

Day 4

BBC Media City Tour
We join a tour of the BBC at Media City UK in Salford and walk in the footsteps of some of our favourite celebrities. The studios are home to a whole host of BBC channels and programmes including favourites such as Match of the Day, Blue Peter, A Question of Sport, Mastermind, BBC Breakfast, Radio 5 live, CBBC, BBC Sport and the BBC Philharmonic Orchestra, to name just a few. Well-informed and friendly tour guides will entertain and surprise us, giving us a fascinating insight into how TV and radio work. We can also have a go at making our own news and weather bulletins in an interactive studio.
Please Note: For the BBC Tour they have advised that Photo ID will be required for anyone over 18 years old and large bags, rucksacks and shopping bags are not allowed on the tour.

Day 5

After breakfast, we depart the hotel and return to the local area.
