After our collection from home we head to Bath for the afternoon at leisure. You could visit the remains of one of the finest spas of the ancient world, The Roman Baths, maybe enjoying lunch in the Roman Baths Kitchen or Pump Room Restaurant, explore the stunning Bath Abbey, the Fashion Museum, the Assembly Rooms, or visit the famous Royal Crescent, a magnificent sweep of 30 Georgian houses featured as a backdrop in countless films. Bath is a great city to wonder around on foot, or if you would like to sit back and listen to the history of the attractions, why not join one of the hop on and off tours that operate in the city.
We depart from Bath and make our way to the hotel to check into our rooms before dinner is served.
Longleat Land of Lights
A myriad of magical light installations will emerge across the Park in seven unique zones. Discover motion-detected, synchronised light and sound displays, and a dancing display of colour at the lake, as projections and lasers beam across the fountains. Navigate through the four seasons created by atmospheric haze, music, mirrors and clever lighting, all nestled in the backdrop of the commanding Longleat House, lit in all its historic glory. Also venture into The Longhouse for an immersive 360° infinity experience with floor-to-ceiling optical and aural effects, and don’t miss the iconic 20 metre Christmas tree which will be lighting up the architecture of Longleat’s Stable Yard, all the while serenading the Park with beloved Christmas melodies.
After you are free to explore at your leisure, your ticket includes the main square home to Red Pandas, Meerkats, Reptiles, The Giant Otters, Crocodiles exhibit and Koala Creek featuring southern Koalas and southern hairy-nosed wombats.
The Jungle cruise will get you up close to Gorilla Colony, Hippos, and the noisy Californian sea lions that like to follow alongside in the hopes of fish. Longleat House will also be open for you to explore its sweeping corridors and grand rooms transporting you back in time with its example of high Elizabethan architecture and the Capability Brown landscaped grounds and maze. One of Longleat's best features in the winter is its festival of lights event. The lanterns will be positioned around the formal gardens and the Main Square and are best viewed when it gets dark. They will be turned on at approximately 4pm-4:30pm and take a minimum of an hour to walk around, so you'll be able to see them in all their glory before we depart for the hotel.
We depart from the hotel and after a scenic drive and lunch stop, we make our way back to the local area for our return home.
