Day 1

We arrive at our hotel in time for dinner.

Day 2

Epping Ongar Railway, Greensted Church & North Weald Airfield Museum
Starting our day on the Epping Ongar Railway, we travel through picturesque countryside on a steam-hauled train to the town of Ongar, where we disembark and enjoy a guided tour of Greensted Church, the oldest wooden church in the world. We then return to North Weald station, where we have time for a visit to the North Weald Airfield Museum, which houses a collection of heritage & memorabilia telling the story of the adjacent North Weald Airfield and its wartime significance.

Day 3

Royal Gunpowder Mills & Hatfield House
We begin this morning with a bang, paying a visit to the Royal Gunpowder Mills in Waltham Abbey where we explore the fascinating history of gunpowder, explosives and rocket propellants. In the afternoon, we visit Hatfield House where we enjoy a guided tour before we explore the lovely gardens and look closer at the magnificent, recently commissioned water sculpture taking pride of place on the north front of the house.

Day 4

After breakfast, we make our way home.
