Heart of Wales line & Abbey-Cwm-Hir
After an early breakfast we make our way to Swansea train station to catch the 'Heart of Wales' line to Llandrindod Wells. Recognised as one of the most scenic railways in the country, our two and a half hour journey takes us through the stunning countryside of South Wales; past the Loughor Estuary, the meandering River Tywi and across the 150 year old Cynghordy Viaduct. The coach will meets us at Llandrindod Wells to take us to Abbey-Cwm-Hir for the afternoon. Here we enjoy a guided tour around one of Wales' finest examples of Victorian Gothic revival architecture, renowned for its stunning interiors and fascinating collections. Afterwards we head to our home for the next 3 nights, The Metropole Hotel & Spa.
Please note: Passengers are asked to remove shoes at the Abbey and may wish to bring slippers

Day 3

Llandrindod Wells
Today we enjoy a day at leisure strolling around this popular Victorian Spa resort; you can still try the waters at the Chalybeate Spring in the Rock Park and see the wonderful architecture from that time all around the town. Or not indulge in the leisure facilities back at the hotel famously the highest rated hotel in mid Wales.

Day 4

Vale of Rheidol Railway & Aberystwyth
This morning we travel west to Aberystwyth for a return journey on the Vale of Rheidol Railway to Devil's Bridge. During our nostalgic 3 hour round trip, our narrow gauge steam locomotive climbs 700ft through some of the most spectacular scenery in Wales. We enjoy free time in the afternoon in the popular seaside town of Aberystwyth where we can also explore Britain's longest electric cliff railway.

Day 5

Elan Valley Visitor Centre and the Heart of Wales line to Shrewsbury
This morning we depart the Metropole Hotel & Spa and first visit the Elan Valley Visitor Centre, set in a fantastic location against a spectacular backdrop of a Victorian stone dam. Afterwards we head back to Llandrindod Wells by train to catch the final leg of our journey on the 'Heart of Wales' line to Shrewsbury. From the beautiful countryside around Pen-y-Bont, crossing the impressing Knucklas Viaduct and onto our final destination in Shrewsbury. On arrival we are met by our coach and taken to our hotel for the next 2 nights, The Mercure Telford Centre.

Day 6

Acton Scott Farm & Severn Valley Railway
This morning we travel to the Shropshire Hills to visit the Acton Scott Historic Working Farm where we will be transported back in time to experience life on a farm at the turn of the last century. With Shire horses working the land and the resident wheelwright, bodger, blacksmith and dairymaid on hand to provide demonstrations, there is plenty to see. In the afternoon we enjoy a return journey from Bridgenorth to Bewdley on the vintage steam-hauled Severn Valley Railway. Sit back and admire the scenery of the Worcestershire and Shropshire countryside as the railway hugs the Severn Valley on its way to the town of Bewdley with its pretty gardens and lovely Georgian architecture.
