We spend today relaxing in our lovely coastal resort.
Bassano del Grappa & Prosecco Route
Today we head to the hidden gem of Bassano del Grappa, home of the fiery Italian spirit known as 'Grappa'. We enjoy a guided tour and tasting at the Nardini Grapperia, the oldest distillery in Italy dating back to 1779. Following our visit we enjoy lunch at leisure in charming Bassano and explore the colourful streets interlinked by lively piazzas, leading to the quaint wooden covered bridge which dates back to the 13th century. In the afternoon we travel to Villa Sandi, located on the famous Prosecco wine route, where we sample some of the region's famous sparkling wine before returning to our hotel.
Padua & Vicenza
This morning we travel to the medieval city of Padua. Here we can take a stroll around the historic streets and visit the Scrovegni Chapel, with its priceless frescoes by Giotto, and The Basilica of St. Anthony. In the afternoon we travel to the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Vicenza, or the "city of gold", known for its trade in precious metals and fine 16th century architecture. We enjoy free time to explore the beautiful, compact town centre with its attractive shops and impressive buildings
Today, we travel to the ferry jetty of Punta Sabbioni, where we take the water taxi to Venice. Stunning architecture and a labyrinth of mysterious passageways await in the alluring city built on a lagoon. Gaze in awe at the Grand Canal, reflecting the glories of Venetian architecture lining its banks, the Gothic Palazzo Ducale, Doge's Palace and the Basilicas of San Marco and Santa Maria della Salute. Venture further into its back streets and discover churches and museums lined with priceless marble and antique treasures aplenty, and, of course, there is the option of a ride in one of the world-famous gondolas before we return by water taxi to Punta Sabbioni
We retrace our steps back to our overnight hotel.
We return to Calais for our ferry crossing to Calais and return to the local area.
