Raphael Smith and his mum Charlotte took a day trip to Lucketts Travel where they had a tour of the yard and climbed aboard a number of coaches. They even took a tour of Lucketts’ £400,000 VIP coach, with reclining leather seats, Sky TV and its own on-board kitchen.
School boy Raph, who has autism, started his love for coaches about a year ago when a coach driver noticed his enthusiasm and asked if he wanted to have a look around the vehicle.
When his mum asked Raph what he wanted to do for his 11th birthday on 14th December, Raph asked if they could take a special day trip from their home in Brighton, to have a look around the yard at Lucketts Travel in Broadcut, Fareham.
David Luckett, Chairman and Owner of Lucketts Travel, was also there to welcome Raph who was dressed in full company uniform.
At the end of the visit, the team presented Raph with a birthday present – a model bus that was an exact replica of one of the fleet, complete with Lucketts branding.
David Luckett said: “We’re absolutely thrilled to welcome Raph to Lucketts Travel. He is extremely knowledgeable about each of the coaches and was particularly excited to see our VIP coach.
“We hope Raph had a fantastic day celebrating his birthday with us. We’d like to welcome him back soon for another visit.”
