Day 2

We make our way to Leyburn and visit Ceramic Inspirations, where a huge variety of items in all shapes and guises are produced. Next door is the Chocolate Shop where you can treat yourself from a delicious selection of something chocolatey! From Leyburn we ride along Wensleydale to Hawes, where we visit the 'Cheese Experience' at the Wensleydale Creamery, home of Yorkshire's most famous cheese. Discover the history of real cheese, kept alive by a proud Yorkshire tradition. Hawes is also the home of Wensleydale Pottery and the Hawes Ropemakers, and the town abounds in antique shops, tea rooms and pubs. Leaving Hawes we head along the dale to Aysgarth and Bishopdale, over the hills to Upper Wharfedale and Grassington. This is one of the Dales best loved villages with its diminutive cobbled square and interesting little alleyways.

Day 3

Explore Harrogate this morning. With huge open spaces and broad tree-lined boulevards, antique shops and shopping malls, elegant buildings, abundant greenery, flowers and plants, it is little wonder that the town is a frequent winner of Britain in Bloom awards. Harrogate also boasts the world-famous Betty's tearooms, founded in 1919 by a Swiss confectioner, and just around the corner from Betty's is Farrar's of Harrogate, established in 1840 and best known for its Original Harrogate Toffee - the favourite sweetie of the late Queen Mother. We drive to Ripon, with its magnificent Cathedral. Here we have time for lunch and a look around before we continue our way to delightful Masham where we feature a visit to the award-winning Black Sheep Brewery.

Day 4

Our first stop this morning is the small village of Kilburn, under the famous White Horse. This village is the home of Mousey Thompson, the famous woodworker renowned for his little mouse carving, adorning hand carved oak furniture throughout the land. Whilst here we visit the Mousey Thompson Visitor Centre. The day continues via Byland Abbey and Ampleforth to Helmsley, where we take a break and have time to obtain lunch. A visit to the cheese shop in the market place is a real treat, or you may wish to visit Helmsley Walled Garden. Just around the corner from the garden is Ryeburn of Helmsley, purveyors of award-winning ice creams and serving just about the best ice cream you will ever taste. Leaving Helmsley, we make for Thirsk and visit 'The World of James Herriot', a fascinating tour, including many of the props and three studio sets as featured in the long running television series based on the life and times of local vet Alf Wright. From Thirsk we return to the hotel.
