Emmerdale Drive, Illkley & East Riddlesden Hall
Our day begins with an Emmerdale drive, taking us through the beautiful countryside featured on the opening credits of the programme as we make our way to the tiny village of Esholt, 'Beckindale' and then Emmerdale for many years. We have included a drink at the famous 'Woolpack' before heading for the former spa town of Ilkley, sheltered by Ilkley Moor and the Cow and Calf Rocks. We stay in Ilkley for lunchtime where you may fancy tea and cakes at Betty's Tea Room. This afternoon visit the National Trust owned East Riddlesden Hall, an intimate manor house set in mature grounds in the Aire Valley.
After a leisurely breakfast, head for historic York. Have the day to explore this fascinating city with lots of attractions such as the National Railway Museum, Jorvik Centre, the City Walls, the magnificent Minster or you can stroll the little streets and alleyways where you'll find the famous Betty's Tea Rooms.
Harrogate & Ripon Cathedral Tour
The morning is free to explore the town of Harrogate where you can enjoy a stroll through the beautiful Valley Gardens or browse the Victorian arcades. We have an early evening dinner before tonight's outing to Ripon. First, we have a behind the scenes guided tour of the tremendous Ripon Cathedral, followed by one of the oldest English traditions in the market square - at 9:00pm the Ripon Hornblower sets the night watch from each corner of the obelisk in the town square to reassure citizens that all is well.
After breakfast, we begin our journey home.Br
