We celebrate this amazing accolade with our new packaged tour, which includes scenic lake cruises, nostalgic train journeys and stunning country houses, all set within the spectacular scenery of one of the world's most impressive national parks!

3* Riverside Hotel

As the name suggests, this charming 3 star hotel enjoys a fabulous riverside location in the centre of Kendal, making it an ideal base from which to explore the Lake District. The shops and attractions of the town are a short walk across the bridge. Each of the 47 bedrooms has river views whilst the restaurant, located on the first floor (accessible by lift) has excellent views. Leisure facilities include an indoor swimming pool, gym, sauna and steam room. The hotel has a lift to all floors which is accessed via some steps; a stair lift is also available.

Day 1

We arrive at our hotel in time for dinner.


Day 2

Today we enjoy a trio of touring treats beginning with a Lake Windermere cruise from Bowness to Lakeside pier before we embark on a nostalgic steam train journey on the Lakeside and Haverthwaite Railway. When we arrive at Haverthwaite station, we enjoy a lovely afternoon tea before visiting the Lakeland Motor Museum, featuring a unique collection of 30,000 exhibits.

Day 3

This morning we visit Dalemain Mansion, a unique and slightly quirky historic house where we enjoy a guided tour. The house is set within five acres of historic gardens, home to the very special Dalemain Blue poppies. Don't forget to visit the gift shop to purchase some award-winning marmalades! In the afternoon we travel to nearby Pooley Bridge and enjoy a scenic 1-hour Ullswater Steamer cruise.

Day 4

Start with a return train journey on the Ravenglass and Eskdale Steam Railway from the coastal village of Ravenglass to the very heart of the Lake District, Dalegarth, where we disembark for a short break before the return journey. After, we re-join the coach for a short drive to Muncaster Castle, where we spend time exploring this haunted castle and its grounds!

Today, we journey home.
