3* The Marquis Hotel


Built in the 18th century as a holiday home for the 3rd Marquis of Bute, and now converted into a fine hotel adjoining Tor Abbey Park, the hotel retains many original features and offers sea views. Facilities include a chic restaurant and lounge bar. En-suite bedrooms have a TV and tea/coffee facilities.

Day 1

We depart and head to Torquay where we enjoy a welcome tea/coffee on arrival.


Day 2

Dartmouth Steam Railway & Cruise
Head to Paignton to embark on a steam train ride. Enjoy breath-taking scenery on this picturesque line along the English Riviera Geopark coastline and through the wooded slopes bordering the Dart Estuary, before arriving in Kingswear. It is here we cross the River Dart on the foot passenger ferry to Dartmouth where we board our pleasure boat for a relaxing one-hour return river cruise. There will be time in Dartmouth to explore or stroll along the river before returning to our hotel.

Enjoy a full day at leisure in Torquay.

Day 4

Buckfast Abbey & National Park
Today we drive into the Dartmoor National Park. First head to Buckfastleigh to visit Buckfast Abbey, home to a community of Benedictine monks. Have the chance to look around, have a cup of tea and browse the gift shop before continuing to Moretonhampstead, an ancient market town and 'Gateway to the Moor'. This afternoon continues from Dartmoor to Princetown, where we stop at the National Park Visitor Centre for time to explore before returning to our hotel.

After breakfast, we leave Torquay and make our way home.
