Gladstone Pottery Museum
We start with a tour at the Gladstone Pottery Museum in Stoke-on-Trent. The museum is now preserved as the last Victorian pottery factory in the country. Then spend a leisurely afternoon driving through the Derbyshire Peak District and returning to the hotel via Buxton and Matlock with a stop off in Bakewell.
Today we journey to the neo-classical mansion, Kedleston Hall which is framed by historic parkland and displays an extensive collection of paintings, sculptures and original furnishings. It has recently been a key location for the movie blockbuster, 'The Duchess'.
Hardwick Hall & Gardens
We visit Chesterfield with its famous crooked spire, then head to spectacular Hardwick Hall, built by Bess of Hardwick, Countess of Shrewsbury. The hall has survived virtually unchanged and houses some of the finest 16th and 17th century embroideries and tapestries. You can also enjoy circular walks around the surrounding parkland with magnificent views. The hall also played the part of Malfoy Manor in Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 1.
We begin our return journey home after breakfast.
