The Esmeralda is a traditional, air-conditioned, comfortable vessel. Each of the passenger cabins are situated on the main and upper passenger decks,
attractively decorated and equipped with telephone, colour TV, minisafe, en-suite bathroom with shower, toilet and washstand. Also on the upper deck are the reception and an attractive Old Dutch lounge. The restaurant is situated on the main deck. Both of these decks can be reached by a passenger lift and a chair lift goes up to the sun deck.

After our ferry crossing to Calais, we make our way through Holland to the canal city of Alkmaar, known for its cheese making prowess and its impressive cathedral, the 15th Century Grote Kerk., We board our ship, the MV Esmeralda and enjoy a welcome cocktail while your bags are taken to your cabin, We have time to settle in prior to our four course dinner this evening.
We will spend today enjoying our cruise from Alkmaar to Hoorn. We arrive in Hoorn around 4pm where you will have time to stretch your legs in this historic city, located on the shores of the Ijsselmeer, and home to a plethora of beautiful listed buildings and no less than seven excellent museums.Br, D
We depart Hoorn around 10.30 am and arrive mid-afternoon in Zaandam, where we take a local transfer to the most famous attraction, Zaanse Schans. This is where the 18th and 19th centuries come back to life as you can stroll past the bakery museum and smell the scent of freshly baked bread or have a look at the warehouse where clogs are still made today.Br, D
Sailing from Zaandam at midday, we make our way to Amsterdam where we arrive during the afternoon. Time to explore the famous canals, diamond factories, Anne Frank's House or the Van Gogh Museum. Amsterdam's focal point is Dam Square where there is plenty of food stalls, restaurants and shops galore. This evening, we will enjoy a special gala farewell dinner at which the ladies will receive a small present from the ship's Captain. Overnight in Amsterdam.
We disembark after breakfast and travel to the world famous Keukenhof Gardens, a 70 acre site filled with over 6 million bulbs in both landscaped gardens and glasshouses. We depart during the afternoon for Calais and our return crossing to the UK and to the local area.
