A favourite for river cruising, The MV Esmeralda is a comfortable vessel decorated in traditional Dutch style. All en-suite cabins have air conditioning, a TV and a safe. The lounge and reception are located on the upper deck, and the tastefully decorated restaurant is on the main deck. There is a lift between the promenade deck and the main deck as well as a stair lift to the sun deck.

After our ferry crossing to Calais, we journey through Holland to the canal city of Alkmaar, known for its cheese making prowess and impressive cathedral, the 15th century Grote Kerk. Board the ship and enjoy a welcome cocktail while your bags are taken to your cabin. Take time to settle in prior to the four course dinner this evening.
Alkmaar to Hoorn
Spend today enjoying the cruise from Alkmaar to Hoorn. We arrive in Hoorn around 4pm where you will have time to stretch your legs in this historic city, located on the shores of the Ijsselmeer. The city is home to a plethora of beautiful listed buildings and no less than seven excellent museums.
Hoorn to Zaandam & Zaanse Schans
We depart Hoorn around 10.30am and arrive mid-afternoon in Zaandam, our coach will take you to the most famous attraction, Zaanse Schans. The 18th and 19th centuries come back to life as you stroll past the bakery museum and smell the scent of freshly baked bread, or have a look at the warehouse where clogs are still made today.
Keukenhof Gardens & Amsterdam
Disembark the ship in the morning and travel by coach to Keukenhof Gardens. Keukenhof Gardens is home to 70-acres filled with over 6 million bulbs in both landscaped gardens and glasshouses. We head back to Amsterdam, where you will have time to explore the famous canals, diamond factories, Anne Frank's House or the Van Gogh Museum. Amsterdam's focal point is Dam Square where there is plenty of food stalls, restaurants and shops galore. This evening you enjoy a special gala farewell dinner during which the ladies will receive a small present from the ship's Captain.
We disembark our boat after breakfast and depart for Calais to catch our return crossing to the UK and home.
