Day 2

A morning visit to Sulgrave Manor, a Tudor and Georgian manor house which was built and lived in by ancestors of George Washington, the first US President. It is a wonderful example of Tudor design brought to life by the remarkable story of an extraordinary family. Enjoy tea/coffee and cake before a house and garden tour. Spend the afternoon in Banbury, a historic market town famed for its cakes, the Oxford Canal and the ‘Fine Lady upon a White Horse’ statue immortalising the town’s nursery rhyme ‘Ride a Cock Horse to Banbury Cross’.

Day 3

Enjoy a VIP experience at Kelmarsh Hall and Gardens where we discover one of Northamptonshire’s gems. A Grade I listed country house, built in 1732, which has been home to historic figures who have influenced the architecture and design of the house. For example, Nancy Lancaster, an influential interior designer who once lived in the property, still pervades the house with the terracotta colouring of the Great Hall, the exuberant Chinese wallpaper and seasonal flower arrangements. Enjoy tea/coffee and biscuits on arrival followed by a private tour of the house and gardens. Guests will have the chance to explore ‘Below the Stairs’ areas formerly used by workers in the Hall including the butler’s pantry, bake house and the footman’s room in the basement.

We begin our journey home, back to the local area.
