This hotel is in a peaceful location in the Forest of Dean countryside with views over the Wye Valley. En-suite bedrooms are traditional in style and have a TV, hairdryer and tea/coffee facilities. The restaurant and bar are located in the Clubhouse, a separate building opposite the main building. The hotel has no lift but there are some ground floor bedrooms.

Day 1

Departing in the morning, we arrive at the hotel in time for dinner.


Day 2

Enjoy a scenic drive along the Wye Valley, an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, to the historic market town of Ross-on-Wye. From here we head south towards Monmouth with its unique medieval gatehouse on the 13th century Monnow Bridge, before we arrive in the village of Tintern, which is dominated by the spectacular remains of Tintern Abbey.

Day 3

We head to Chepstow, a bustling border market town with a variety of shops, winding back streets, the old town walls and 15th century gatehouse. First visit Chepstow Castle, the oldest surviving post-Roman stone fortification in Britain, before heading to the award-winning Chepstow Museum, housed in an elegant 18th century townhouse. This afternoon, enjoy a return train journey through the medieval Forest of Dean.

Day 4

Today, discover the magnificent Brecon Beacons which offer spectacular landscapes. See Pen y Fan, the highest peak in South Wales, and visit Brecon town with its narrow streets lined with Georgian and Jacobean shop fronts. We stop for lunch in the pretty town of Hay-on-Wye, famous as the town of books, before a visit to Hillside Brewery, a microbrewery in the Forest of Dean. Experience the
brewing process up close before tasting a well-earned ale overlooking some of Gloucestershire’s most stunning landscapes.

After breakfast, we head back to our local area.
