We make our way to Babbacombe arriving during the afternoon where tea and coffee will be waiting on our arrival.
Today we visit Paignton where we embark on a steam train ride. Enjoy the breath-taking scenery on this picturesque line along the spectacular English Riviera Geopark coastline and through the wooded slopes bordering the Dart Estuary, before arriving in Kingswear. It is here we cross the River Dart on the foot passenger ferry to Dartmouth which is where we board our pleasure boat for a relaxing one-hour return river cruise. There will be time in Dartmouth to browse the narrow shopping streets or take a stroll along the river before returning to our hotel.
A full day at leisure in Babbacombe. Experience the stunning sea views, colourful promenade and picturesque buildings. Take a peaceful stroll around the small and tranquil village, which is dotted with independent shops, boutiques, cosy tearooms and attractions. There are plenty of attractions to explore, including the popular Babbacombe Model Village, which features thousands of miniature buildings encapsulating the essence of all things British and the Babbacombe Cliff Railway built in the same year Lucketts was founded in 1926 and is a popular attraction, providing passengers with spectacular vistas as it travels up and down the 240-foot cliff face to Oddicombe beach. Alternatively, Bygones has three floors of pure nostalgia for all the family where you can wander back in time, visit an authentic, life-size Victorian street including forge, sweet shop & apothecary.
We start the day with a visit to the quaint resort of Teignmouth with a classic crescent of Georgian buildings, promenade and historic port. We then make our way to Buckfastleigh where we visit Buckfast Abbey, home to a community of Benedictine monks. Here you will have the chance to look around the abbey, have a cup of tea or look around the gift shop before returning to the hotel.
Departing after breakfast, we make our way homeward.
